Dr. Simon J.D. Schillebeeckx is Assistant Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business of SMU. Prior to joining SMU, Simon obtained a PhD in Management from Imperial College London, worked in sustainable innovation consulting, and read Corporate Social Responsibility (MA, Nottingham University) and Commercial Engineering (BSc & MSc, Catholic University of Leuven). Simon’s research focuses on digitization, innovation, and sustainability. He’s considered a leading voice on digital sustainability, specifically how web2 and web3 applications can accelerate fundraising for sustainable development.

Outside his academic work, Simon is a co-founder and Non-Executive Director of the Global Mangrove Trust (GMT), a non-profit that orchestrates large scale mangrove reforestation projects and has aided in the development of OxCarbon, a carbon credit certification agency spun off from the Oxford Smith School which relies on ultra-scalable digital MRV approaches. In 2019, Simon also co-founded Handprint.tech where he is the Chief Vision Officer. Handprint operates an impact marketplace that spans 60 countries and an API platform that empowers companies automate and integrate the creation of positive UN SDG-aligned impact into any stage of the customer journey.

Simon is happily married with Anna Proshchikina. They have two amazing children, Mia and Theo.
